Exotic Trip
Solo Show Preview at the See Galerie, April 2024
In her artworks, Emilie Marie explores the symbolic of the garden as place dedicated to pleasure that she cultivates intuitively. For this purpose, she choregraphs an atmospheric ballet where all the elements merge to allow the blossoming of emotions. In the series Exotic Trip, the artist invites us to the travel of the feeling of passion, between extasy, torment and balance. This passion between two beings invokes vegetal, mineral, cosmic nuances, or others reminding the lights of the sunset diving into the sea. These nuances melt together in a softness that sometimes graze the turmoil. The artist paints on the floor on unstretched canvases, driven by the movements of her body, her instinct, and her own emotions. Therefore, the brush strokes are either vivid or soothed, the material look suave, or more resisting. Her gestural expression gives her art a dramatical intensity. Painting sometimes with eyeshadows, she adds to it a carnal aspect, iridescent, and a transparency which links all these sometimes-contradictory energies, in a sensual fluctuation.
Tapping into the vivacity of Nature, the artist elaborates a dialogue, an emotional osmosis that is incarnated in organic and aquatic shapes. They float, branch out, take root ones through the others, or stand out in a more incisive way, in a perpetual movement bonding the emotions, the individuals and their environment.
